Lifting where the load needs supported transfer
A heavy item may need to be raised from its base, transferred onto moving equipment or positioned where vehicle access is limited. Portable or mobile gantries can form part of an assessed lifting arrangement. Their role is different from the equipment used to carry the item across a floor or secure it for transport.
Equipment within this category
Portable and mobile gantries
Supported lifting and transfer stages where the setup and surface suit the load.
Chain blocks and chain hoists
Controlled lifting support within a selected gantry or lifting arrangement.
Lever hoists and winches
Load positioning and controlled movement where specified for the task.
Lifting slings and webbing slings
Load attachment and support selected for the item and lifting arrangement.
Shackles and lifting chains
Compatible lifting connections with ratings and configuration checked.
Spreader bars and lifting beams
Assessed distribution of support and sling geometry for suitable loads.
Access details that shape the plan
Provide the known weight, dimensions, approved lifting or support points and overhead space. Show the proposed working area, floor changes and the route out of the building. The plan needs room for the lifting frame and the people controlling the movement, as well as somewhere suitable to receive the load.
Connect the handling stages
The written brief should identify the lifting stage, support arrangement, associated moving equipment and destination position. Slings, shackles, chain blocks and spreader arrangements are selected as a compatible system. Where specialist lifting gear or an additional provider is needed, include that responsibility in the agreed scope.

If a weight or dimension is unknown, say so in your enquiry. JB can identify the information needed before confirming the crew, equipment, transport and price.
Request an equipment assessmentEquipment questions
Is a gantry the same as a crane truck?
No. A gantry provides a lifting frame at the working location. A crane-equipped truck combines transport with a separate lifting arrangement. Access, load and the required movement determine which option is assessed.
Can the equipment be included with transport?
Yes. Request a complete move and include both sites. The agreed quote identifies the lifting, loading, transport, unloading and placement stages.
Is this a live equipment stock list?
This guide explains equipment capabilities. The selected equipment, service arrangement and availability are confirmed for your enquiry.
