A broad lifting and materials-handling toolkit
Heavy moving can require several equipment types: lifting a load, shifting it across a floor, negotiating stairs, loading a truck and placing it at the destination are different stages. JB selects and coordinates the combination around the item and the site.
The capability guide below covers equipment used or assessed within JB’s heavy-moving work, with additional lifting gear coordinated where required. It is not a stock list guaranteeing every model at every location. Tell us the job; the quote confirms the proposed equipment and service.
Powered stair handling
Read the full powered stair climbers guide
Tracked electric stair climbers
Powered tracked movement for suitable secured loads on assessed stair routes.
Heavy-item specialists: equipment and removalists together
Read the city service for heavy furniture, safes, machinery and awkward items. The equipment guide supports an assessed moving scope rather than replacing the item and route review.
Hydraulic platform stair climbers
Platform-supported handling with the load position and operating space assessed.
400 kg rated stair-climber category
A rated equipment category within JB’s existing stair-climber range.
800 kg rated stair-climber category
A higher rated category requiring the appropriate load and route review.
Lifting frames, hoists and rigging
Read the full gantries, hoists & lifting rigging guide
Portable and mobile gantries
Supported lifting and transfer stages where the setup and surface suit the load.
Chain blocks and chain hoists
Controlled lifting support within a selected gantry or lifting arrangement.
Lever hoists and winches
Load positioning and controlled movement where specified for the task.
Lifting slings and webbing slings
Load attachment and support selected for the item and lifting arrangement.
Shackles and lifting chains
Compatible lifting connections with ratings and configuration checked.
Spreader bars and lifting beams
Assessed distribution of support and sling geometry for suitable loads.
Jacking and controlled positioning
Read the full jacks & controlled load positioning guide
Hydraulic jacks
Lifting and positioning stages with suitable support arrangements.
Toe jacks
Low-clearance lifting where the item and support points allow it.
Bottle jacks and trolley jacks
Task-specific lifting support selected for the load and working area.
Roller crowbars and machinery moving bars
Controlled preparation for placing suitable moving equipment beneath a load.
Dunnage, packing blocks and chocks
Support and restraint between lifting, shifting and transport stages.
Skates, rollers and pallet handling
Read the full machinery skates & pallet jacks guide
Machinery skates
Level movement with appropriate load support, surface and control.
Heavy-duty skate configurations up to 20 tonnes
Rated machinery-skate capability; configuration and load distribution determine suitability.
Load-moving rollers
Assessed horizontal movement and positioning on an appropriate route.
Pallet jacks and pallet trucks
Handling suitable palletised or supported loads between transfer points.
High-lift pallet jacks
Height-adjustment and transfer stages where the platform and item suit the task.
Dollies and lifting trolleys
Read the full dollies, scissor trolleys & lift tables guide
Heavy-duty moving dollies
Supported movement through appropriate level routes.
Platform trolleys and hand trolleys
Transporting suitable items between collection, loading and placement points.
Scissor trolleys and hydraulic lift tables
Raising and lowering a supported load for suitable transfer stages.
Piano dollies and piano trolleys
Instrument handling with preparation, protection and restraint assessed.
Piano moving boards and support boards
Supporting suitable piano configurations as part of an agreed moving method.
Forklift and crane-assisted handling
Read the full forklifts & crane-assisted moving guide
Forklifts
Loading, unloading and internal movement of suitable equipment or supported loads.
Forklift attachments and extensions
Selected only where compatible with the equipment, load and configuration.
HIAB and crane-equipped trucks
Assessed loading, unloading or placement with vehicle setup and access included.
Counterweighted lifting equipment
Controlled alignment or placement stages where specified for the project.
Scissor lifts
A separate equipment category from scissor trolleys; assessed for the particular transfer stage.
Ramps, protection and transport preparation
Read the full ramps, floor protection & load supports guide
Loading ramps and threshold ramps
Planned changes in level with suitable support, gradient and restraint.
Floor-protection boards and sheets
Protection along the agreed working route.
Moving blankets, padding and edge protectors
Protection for vulnerable surfaces, corners and restraint contact points.
Straps and load restraints
Securing the item for agreed handling and transport stages.
Crates, cradles and custom supports
Project-specific protection and support where included in the scope.
Road transport and complete logistics
Read the full heavy moving trucks & a-to-b logistics guide
Flatbed trucks
Suitable machinery, industrial equipment and supported loads.
Enclosed pantech trucks
Covered transport for suitable protected items and equipment.
Container trucks
Container transport with collection, unloading and receiving access confirmed.
Tail-lift trucks
Assessed vehicle-to-ground transfers for suitable loads.
Loading, unloading and final placement
One coordinated A-to-B scope that connects the vehicle with the item’s final position.
20-tonne machinery skates and rated equipment
Our machinery skates include configurations rated up to 20 tonnes. The assessed configuration, support positions and load distribution must suit the item, with the route and surface reviewed for the complete movement.
A skate rating does not establish a building’s floor capacity or a truck’s payload. Likewise, a 400 kg or 800 kg stair-climber category does not confirm suitability for every staircase. The selected equipment and arrangement are confirmed against the load and working conditions.
Equipment plus complete A-to-B logistics
JB can coordinate collection, lifting, loading, truck transport, unloading and placement. Flatbed, pantech, container, tail-lift or crane-equipped transport can be considered alongside the equipment needed inside each property.
For commercial moves, identify supplier release, preparation, site access and receiving contacts in one brief. For a piano or household heavy item, include both access routes and the final position. Technical disconnection, installation and commissioning should have explicit responsibilities.
Heavy moving equipment for your city
Discuss the item, rather than guessing the machine
Send the item type, known weight, dimensions, support points, both addresses and route photographs. Include stairs, ramps, floor changes, loading areas and the required final position. JB can identify any further measurements or inspection needed before confirming the method.
